“Good news for the Pesaro Police Headquarters, where 10 more units will be assigned to the staff starting this July, but several priority issues related to security in our provincial territory remain pending – says Regional Councilor Micaela Vitri.

I feel compelled to remember this because a year ago, on July 8, I was invited to Fano to the sit-in organized by the police unions in front of the Police Station. With me were both the Honorable Antonio Baldelli and the unionist Marco Lanzi. We listened to the agents’ just reasons and concerns. The latest National Plan for the reorganization of Police stations – Vitri specifies – provides for only 44 Operators for the Fano Police Station, namely: 23 in the role of assistant officers, 10 Superintendents, 10 Inspectors and 1 in the role of Manager. In reality, compared to the 43 ordinary role employees provided for by the (absolutely inadequate) organic chart, currently only 37 police officers are in service.

It is evident that the organic plant is completely insufficient to deal with a populous area like Fano and with numerous profiles of particular fragility. The current provision urgently needs to be significantly implemented because, to date, it is impossible to continuously guarantee the presence of a patrol car in all time quadrants and this means that the absences must be filled, with evident difficulty, by the Carabinieri, sometimes also resorting to patrols from neighboring territories.
So I immediately presented a motion in the Regional Council – continues Vitri -, which unfortunately is still blocked. I made a commitment to which I want and must give answers.
Great then, the reinforcements at the Police Headquarters, but a question to the deputy Baldelli is a must: why doesn’t he talk about the Fano Police Station?

A year after that initiative, reinforcements are still awaited. Just as my motion “Under-sizing alarm at the Fano Police Station” presented on July 14, 2023 is still awaiting a response, with which I asked the Acquaroli Board to “urgently take action, in collaboration with the Police Headquarters and the Prefecture of Pesaro and Urbino, at the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior to request a review of the increase in staffing levels”. Where is the strong commitment that the national Government, which Baldelli represents, has made for the city of Fano? The Hon. Baldelli – concludes Vitri – perhaps does not remember that in the last three years or so, the Fano Police Station has been significantly weakened from an operational point of view and that in the Marche region there are several Police Stations with a number of operators greater than that of Fano. It is no longer tolerable to weigh on the sense of responsibility and self-denial of the State Police staff of the Fano Police Station.”
