Pantaleo Corvino, Lecce’s technical director, recounts an episode that happened with Luca Gotti: “I met him in a hotel to discuss the renewal, during dinner we hadn’t reached an economic agreement and we went to sleep. At night I heard a loud thunder, but I went back to bed. Shortly after, someone came knocking on my door: it was Gotti who warned me of a fire. In the end I said to him: ‘How much did you ask me? Okay…'”

After the brilliant salvation achieved in the season just ended, Lecce is preparing for the next championship. The Apulians will still be led by Luke Gottiwho took over on the run from Roberto D’Aversa. Corvino then recounts the outbreak of the fire and Gotti’s providential intervention in the middle of the night: “Improvisationand at 4:30 in the morning I heard a clap of thunder that made me bounce out of bedbut then I looked around, I realized that nothing had happened in my room and I went back to bed. After 10 minutes I heard a knock on my door, It was Gotti who had come to warn me of the outbreak of a fire in the hotel. I went out, but I was hit by the fumes and smoke. In the meantime I could no longer see Gotti, I tried to go down the stairs, but I was blocked by the flames. At that point I went back to the room. I tore down the curtain, went out onto the balcony and at that point I found Gotti again.. I saw that the fire was heading in our direction and we started thinking about what to do to throw ourselves from the first floor. Luckily the firefighters arrived and helped us down. After we got off, when we were safe, I turned to Gotti and said, ‘Luca, how much did you ask me? All right…'”concludes Corvino smiling. A renewal well deserved for Gotti, on and off the field.
