Although six months late, via Vittorio Veneto (from Via Marconi to Via Zanardelli) and the steps of the pedestrian underpass connecting the Ferrotramviaria and Ferrovie dello Stato stations were reopened to traffic yesterday morning. This opening comes after a year due to the work, not yet completely completed, for the construction of the second front of the Bari Nord station.
The financing
Interventions, by Ferrotramviaria, carried out thanks to a 4 million euro funding from the Puglia Region, as reported by the regional transport councilor, Debora Cilento. “With this opening, bus traffic in via Imbriani, via Diaz and Piazza Conteduca will be decongested – said the mayor Cannito – we have created the connection between via Marconi and Piazza Conteduca with the equipped pedestrian axis. We have made an inspection to start the work on the underground parking lot, I am waiting for the timetable from Rfi for the opening of the underpass of via Veneto which is expected to take place on August 9th”.
“We have widened the roadway and sidewalks, we have created bus parking spaces to allow for the rubber-train exchange,” said Pio Fabietti, director of the general affairs sector of Ferrotramviaria. “The Bari Nord station building is currently being completed. This area will house the ticket office and toilets, but it will be available when the train service is reactivated. The station will be fully accessible when the elevators are built, in the first half of 2025.”
