Starting next academic year (2024-2025) In the Forlì Campus of the University of Bologna il master’s degree in Nautical engineering, the first in Emilia-Romagna and among the first in Italy, born to respond to a demand for professionalism and high-level skills increasingly required by the nautical industry and the market. The course will focus on shipbuilding of high-quality pleasure boatsa typical excellence of the Adriatic shipyards.
The project and the objectives
The project, objectives and resources allocated to finance it have been presented today at the press conference in the Council Chamber of the Savings Bank Foundation of Forlì from the representatives of the ‘team’ who saw them alongside each other in a fruitful work public and privatemaking it possible to transform an idea, strongly awaited and desired by the territory, into reality. Present for the Emilia-Romagna Region were the councilors Vincenzo Colla (Economic Development and Green Economy) and Paola Solomons (University and Research); for the University of Bologna the professors Claudio Melchiorrithe Rector’s delegate for Relations with Businesses and Industrial Research, and Alessandro Talamellicontact person for the Nautical Engineering Course; the director of human resources Ferretti Spa Andrea Brasinithe president of the Savings Bank Foundation of Forlì Maurizio Gardinithe mayor of Forlì Gianluca Zattini and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Romagna Charles Battistini.
One of the peculiarities of this project, which can count on a total funding of almost 7 million euros (Exactly 6.857.900) in fact it concerns the presence, alongside theUniversity of Bologna and to the Emilia Romagna regionOf key actors in the territory: have decided to contribute with their own resources Ferretti S.p.a.Savings Bank Foundation of Forlì, Municipality of Forli e Chamber of Commerce of Romagna.
The course, which the Region will finance with 1.5 million for the first three years, is winning project of the tender whose outcome was recently approved by a resolution of the Regional Council. The call for tenders was part of the path traced by the regional law 2 of February 21, 2023 designed for to attract e hold back the talents: highly specialized people who can find in Emilia-Romagna a Workone’s own professional space or researchor undertake a further higher education path.
Among the objectives to be pursued, as indicated in article 6 of the same law, the support, including financial, to universities, research institutions and other subjects of the regional research and innovation ecosystem, the promotion of initiatives which, within the framework of the academic offering of the regional system, favour the discovery, creation and valorisation of highly specialised talents in coherence with the areas of regional smart specialization strategy.
The course will develop various skills that are linked to some of the production areas indicated in the strategy, in particular those involving means of transport, mechanics and engineering services, analysis and design, materials innovation, manufacturing 4.0, sustainable and innovative mobility and motoring, digitalization, Artificial intelligence, Big Data.
The funding
To the 1.5 million made available by the Region must be added 2.362.900 euro of the University of Bologna and an overall contribution of 2,995,000 euros from other co-financiers which together with the University and the Region will be part of a control roomcalled to meet periodically to monitor the results of the new educational initiative. In addition to being co-financiers, each member will be called to play a role related to their own peculiarities.
Il Municipality of Forli (665 thousand euros of investment) will be called on one hand to monitor the needs of the territory and the business system, on the other to prepare services, support and facilities in order to make the city attractive for students. Chamber of Commerce of Romagna, (665mila euro) having an overall vision of the dynamics of the economy and employment in Romagna, will be able to give relevant indications regarding the updating of professional profiles and job opportunities. Others 665mila euros will be made available by the Forlì Savings Bank Foundationan ideal partner to support the start and development of the educational initiative since it usually works in collaboration with the local reality represented by the social and health network system, university research, cultural and economic promotion. Ferretti S.p.a. has contributed to the definition of professional profiles, employment opportunities and the training plan, and will actively participate in teaching, illustrating company case studies in the classroom, and activating projects for laboratory activities, internships and theses. His financial contribution will be of 1 million of Euro.
