PORTO VIRO (Rovigo) – There is also a returning horse among the many youngsters who Delta Group Porto Viro is recruiting for next season: it is about Matthew BelliaTreviso opposite born in 2000, 200 centimetres tall, already in black and fuchsia in 2020/2021.

Bellia first arrived in Porto Viro after having stood out in the Serie B championship with the orange and black jersey of Volley Treviso, the team where he grew up as a volleyball player. In Polesine he immediately obtained promotion from Serie A3 to Serie A2, then, in 2021/2022, he moved to Montecchio, also in A3. The following season he was hired by Vibo Valentia in A2, but in December he terminated his contract with the Calabrians and moved to Silvolley Trebaseleghe in Serie B, the club and category in which he also played last season. In the Serie A championships he boasts a score of 505 points in 67 matches played.

“I honestly didn’t expect to return to Porto Viro – Bellia admits during his presentation – When I learned of the club’s interest I was really very happy, also because everyone spoke well of coach Morato and the entire technical staff, which is why I enthusiastically accepted this proposal. I return to Delta even more charged and confident than three years ago, with the desire to show off in a new championship”.

From these words alone, it is clear that this is a new Bellia, different from the one from his first experience in Porto Viro: “I feel like a more mature player and also more aware of my means. I don’t consider this year and a half in Serie B as ‘purgatory’, on the contrary, thanks to the people I worked with, coach, staff and teammates, I managed to improve from a technical point of view, but above all in terms of character”.

After a brief stint in Vibo, with just one appearance, the Treviso opposite is looking for his “place in the sun” in Serie A2 Credem Banca: “I want to show that all the sacrifices I make to continue playing have served a purpose and that I deserve to be in this category. I will be part of a group with a very young average age and we will certainly only be able to improve during the year. We will have to play every game as if it were the last because A2 teams don’t give you anything for free. From my experience, the fundamental ingredient for having a good season will be to create a good group from the first weeks, all rowing together towards the same objectives”.
