“We have recently learned, from the documentation published on the Public Notice Board, of the upcoming construction of a mega photovoltaic system with 10 thousand panels in our City, in the Campo Jemini area.
The Felici Administration knew about this project, participated in the Conference of Services, which closed in record time, but did not consider it necessary or appropriate to give advance notice to the City Council, leaving citizens and neighborhood committees in the dark.
Yet there are many critical issues. The plant, corresponding to approximately 12 football fields, will generate a significant increase in electromagnetic fields just a few meters from the homes of many citizens, in addition to spoiling the natural landscape, currently protected by the Green Regulation.
Finally, the planned excavations could pose a serious risk to the health of citizens, due to the dispersion of radon gas, which our subsoil is rich in.
For these reasons we have presented an urgent question to the Mayor to obtain answers on this wicked project, which seriously endangers the Campo Jemini area and the health of its residents.”
