Borgo dei Conti Resort is reborn in the heart of Umbria

The new hospitality with authentic and elegant charm, the treasure chest of stories and culture.

Borgo dei Conti Resort – the Relais & Châteaux in the heart of Umbria, 20 kilometers from Perugia and 15 from Lake Trasimeno – reveals its rebirth, after the important conservative renovation that brings this address of high hospitality to a new life, reopening its doors on July 19.

The project bears the signature of the Milanese architectural studio Spagnulo & Partners, thanks to which Borgo dei Conti Resort is reborn, in the place where once stood the ancient fortress that in the mid-19th century became the noble residence owned by Count Lemmo Scotti – one of the greatest Umbrian painters of the 19th century.

A strong feature of the hospitality of Borgo dei Conti Resort is also the privileged link with the Umbrian Renaissance pictorial history – a history from which the stylistic choices of the renovation drew inspiration.

Today Borgo dei Conti Resort welcomes guests to the vast 16-hectare estate within which are located the Villa – once the noble residence of Count Lemmo Scotti, where now there are rooms and suites, the Colonica – a twentieth-century building, the centuries-old park, two new gastronomic addresses – the Cedri Restaurant and the Osteria del Borgo, in addition to the Bar and the Wine Cellar. The infinity pool surrounded by lush nature, invites guests to experience this timeless place throughout the day, while for the care of body and spirit, the new SPA promotes a wellbeing and anti-aging approach.

Local craftsmen and the choice of materials
The interior design – the textures, the colors and the precious materials used – take inspiration from the painting of the 15th and 16th centuries, in its essential relationship with the surrounding Nature. The atmosphere, elegant and authentic, tells the story of the territory and is born from the union of architectural references of ancient memory with a contemporary vision for the furnishings. Elegance is also defined by the use of colors and the choice of materials. The local craftsmen and their “know-how” were entrusted with the task of reinterpreting the material culture of the territory, creating design elements that use native materials – from the Etruscan terracotta of Montone (PG) and the Sugaroni furnace of Castel Viscardo (TR) that characterize the rooms and all the common areas, to the fabrics by Giuditta Brozzetti that embellish cushions and headboards.

Hospitality, rooms and suites
The Villa and the Colonica are the places where the lobby, the rooms and suites are located. The lobby, completely revisited in the spaces in a contemporary key, is characterized by furnishings that recall the colors of the earth and welcomes guests in an elegant library or entertains them in the billiard room. In the Villa that opens the first 21 rooms and suites – out of a total of 40 – during this season, the noble floor returns to its ancient splendor with “La Suite del Conte” and “La Suite della Contessa”, both emblems of local history thanks to the recovery of original architectural elements such as the large fireplaces, the 19th century pictorial insertions and fascinating beamed ceilings. With direct views of the garden, a modular surface area of up to 180 square meters, these two signature suites allow exclusive use of the entire noble floor, ensuring maximum privacy and every comfort of stay.

The gastronomic offer
: An essential link with the territory is also the gastronomic experience that comes to life in the Cedri Restaurant. Located in the Villa, the Restaurant is illuminated by natural light that filters through the large windows onto the terrace, in the spaces that once housed the Limonaia, becoming a natural extension of the outdoor space, during all seasons. Further characterizing the style and spaces is the Nido, the iconic oval nest-shaped table made of natural wood. Emanuele Mazzella, the new Executive Chef of the Resort, interprets the rich Umbrian nature from which he draws inspiration for his cuisine, faithful to a vision that celebrates the seasonal raw materials of the territory – many of which are grown in the Organic Garden inside the resort. The second address of the new Resort is the Osteria del Borgo – with a contemporary style, whose proposals tell of strong and genuine flavors, it overlooks the infinity pool with a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills, the protagonist throughout the day, for a light lunch or a tasty dinner, by the pool and in complete relaxation.
The meeting places are unmissable, such as the Bar with a vast offer of mixology and spirits, which welcomes guests in the cool of the historic courtyard or overlooking the Italian Gardens; the Cellar that holds labels of fine reds, preserved in the scenic underground of the Villa, ideal for a visit or a tasting; a privatizable room – up to 8 people, for special events, characterized by the scenic Wine Cellar in view.

The Spa, the wellbeing approach and the outdoor pool
The new SPA, located in the building annexed to the Villa, uses the anti-aging products of the Nescens brand – for the first time in Italy, and welcomes the resort’s guests in environments interconnected with the surrounding Nature, specifically designed to achieve a deep and lasting state of psycho-physical well-being: starting from the internal Biosauna with a panoramic view of the garden, through the Sensory Deprivation area for a deep connection with your body and mind, up to the Salt Room – with many beneficial effects for the skin and the body. Four treatment cabins, the wet area with a hydromassage tub, Finnish sauna and Turkish bath, complete the experience inside. Outdoors, however, the heated pool with private islands and chaise lounges surrounded by olive groves, becomes the perfect refuge to listen to the sounds of nature.

The Park, the Countess’s House, the Open Air Cinema
With an extension of 16 hectares, the park of centuries-old oaks and beech trees that defines the estate has, since 1800, witnessed the history of this unchanged place, the perfect refuge to enter into symbiosis with the beauty of Umbria and its rhythms. From here, shaded paths wind along which it is possible to discover small lakes and pools, places with a magical atmosphere, which today host a rare biodiversity of flora and fauna. The park also features the Casa della Contessa – a small idyllic refuge where private dinners and special occasions can also come to life. The park is also the protagonist of new experiences, such as the Open Air Cinema – in the large belvedere – which thanks to the combined technology of Sony and Yamaha, offers an immersive experience in a real living room under the starry sky; inside there is also the infinity pool, from which you can admire the shades of the Umbrian landscape as far as the eye can see or sip a cocktail comfortably welcomed in private cabanas.

“After 18 months of intense work, during which we have seen this place reborn through every small but precious detail, July 19 will be a moment of great joy for all of us, in which we will give the warmest welcome to guests. The result of this journey – which was the redevelopment and repositioning of Borgo dei Conti Resort – finds its distinctive trait in the degree of “uniqueness” that we have managed to achieve, through careful enhancement of the property, the destination and its history. A uniqueness that we hope to complete with the style of hospitality that distinguishes The Hospitality Experience and the other two wonderful structures of the Collection, The Place Firenze and Londra Palace Venezia. That discreet, informal and authentic welcome, but always attentive and professional” – says Maître de Maison Antonello Buono.

Borgo dei Conti Resort – part of the collection of iconic Italian-owned and operated hotels & resorts The Hospitality Experience – welcomes international and local guests once again, as an address of high hospitality where you can discover and experience this territory, its history and beauty.
