Farewell to Giuliano Mingori, an entrepreneur from another era

His greatest pride was having guaranteed a future for his company by placing it in the hands of those he loved most: his children and grandchildren.

Giuliano Mingori passed away at the age of 85, after having fought his battle against illness with his head held high. An old-fashioned entrepreneur, he dedicated his entire life to the company that bears his name, working to strengthen the solid foundations that his predecessors had worked to build since the end of the 19th century.

Long-lived company

Mingori is in fact one of the longest-running construction companies in our area, now in its sixth generation: from the founder Domenico to Riccardo, Enrico and Giuliano, who in turn passed the baton to his sons Corrado, Riccardo (also joined by Roberta, who has been living permanently in the United States for years now) and his eldest grandson, Michele.

History

The history of the company begins in the last decade of the nineteenth century. In those years Domenico Mingori worked as a master bricklayer for third parties in the countryside of the lowlands between Parma and Reggio Emilia.

In 1905 his son Riccardo expanded the small artisan business that began to build rural buildings in the Bassa, along the Po river. The baton then passed to Enrico who worked with his brothers, further expanding the business to include river works and hydraulic defense. Mingori Enrico ceased operations in 1969, but in the meantime his son Giuliano had chosen to continue in the name of family tradition by opening a sole proprietorship at the beginning of the 1960s.

The evolution

From that moment on, Mingori began to design, build and sell buildings, mainly residential. An evolution that would lead, among other things, to the construction of entire subdivisions and shopping centers. From the end of the 1980s, the children entered the company and the business expanded further, also with contracts for third parties, structuring itself as a “general contractor”.

The new “physiognomy”

This choice has changed the physiognomy of the company, which today relies on a pool of specialized engineers and technicians for the central management of numerous construction sites.

In the meantime, the generational transition has been completed with Riccardo now president and CEO of Mingori and Corrado and Michele as managing directors and members of the board.

The moral legacy

“The two cornerstones of his existence were his family and his company,” his son Riccardo recalls with emotion. “He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the affection of his loved ones and with the great satisfaction that his children and grandchildren continued his work in the company.”

Giuliano Mingori was an entrepreneur from another era who always went beyond personal profit. “At work, he made ethics a reason for living,” Riccardo Mingori points out. “In everything he did, he went beyond the interests of the company, also looking at the good of people and the work environment. He always managed things with everyone in mind; he was an old-fashioned person from whom we could take an example to best continue our entrepreneurial activity.”

The rosary in suffrage for Giuliano Mingori will be recited tonight at 8:30 pm in the church of San Paolo Apostolo, in via Grenoble, 11. The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 3 pm, again in the church of San Paolo Apostolo.
