On the IO app, Lombard citizens will be able to receive confirmation and reminders of appointments booked from July 1st (both via web services and call centers), cancel the reservation and pay the ticket for health services.

The Lombardy Region, at the invitation of the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and with the involvement of PagoPA, has joined the initiative that integrates these services on the IO app, thus becoming a pilot body, as it is considered a virtuous model in the development of multi-channel solutions to optimize access to care. In the fall, it will also be possible to book visits and tests on the IO app.

“The integration of healthcare services into the IO app – highlights the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council for Innovation Alessio Butti – represents a significant step towards improving access to care. Starting from July 1st, Lombard citizens will be able to receive appointment reminders, cancel reservations and pay the ticket for healthcare services directly from the app. This initiative, the result of collaboration between the Department for Digital Transformation and the Lombardy Region, is essential to contain the no-show phenomenon and reduce waiting lists, thus optimizing the efficiency of the healthcare system”.

Bertolaso: “Further digital access to important services”

“This is – underlines the regional councilor for Welfare Guido Bertolaso ​​- a further digital access to important services that allow the citizen to remember the appointment, cancel it if necessary and pay the ticket due for the service. In Lombardy we already have several regional tools that allow these actions, we believe that expanding the methods of access to services is fundamental and for this reason we have made ourselves available to ‘test’ this new digital access method that all Italian citizens will then be able to use”.

The integration of healthcare services into the IO app represents a digital solution for access to care by Lombard citizens in addition to what is already guaranteed through the Salutile app, the Prenotasalute website, the Electronic Health Record website and the Regional Contact Center systems.

The synergy between the Lombardy Region and the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers is one of the many initiatives carried out to contain the no-show phenomenon (i.e. patients who do not show up for an exam or visit) and to reduce waiting lists.
