The International Archaeological Cinema Festival starts tomorrow, Wednesday 3 July 2024: Cremona and Cavriana are preparing to host the first edition of the event, a one-of-a-kind event dedicated to the valorization of ancient cultures through cinematographic art.

International Archaeological Film Festival

Tomorrow, Wednesday 3 July 2024, from the afternoon until the evening, Cremona and Cavriana will become the suggestive frames of a film marathon dedicated to archaeology and lost civilizationsThe creator of the review, Petra Paola Lucinioriginally from Cremona, chose her hometown as the main venue for the event, to celebrate its thousand-year history and the important archaeological finds that have made it famous.

A cinematic journey through past, present and future

The program of the festival promises to be rich and engaging, with eight films on the program that will range from short films to world premieres of documentary films. Among the highlights, the evening screening of the film “CAHUACHI – labyrinths in the sand” by Petrafilm, which follows the adventures of the archaeologist Joseph Orefici in the Nasca desert, Peru.

Cavriana: Keeper of Prehistoric and UNESCO Treasures

Cavriana, picturesque town in the Upper Mantua area, will be the other fulcrum of the review, thanks to its rich archaeological heritage and the careful management of the two UNESCO pile-dwelling sites. The local Archaeological Group, under the guidance of Adalberto Smallhas documented the cultural and productive interactions of the ancient Central European populations for over half a century, making Cavriana an international point of reference for ancient history enthusiasts.

An opportunity to meet and share

The festival will not be limited to film screenings alone, but will also offer moments of discussion with the directors, authors and filmmakers present. After each screening cycle, viewers will have the opportunity to participate in debates animated on the themes covered in the films.

For all history and cinema enthusiasts

The event is designed for a cross-section of audiences: from children to adultseveryone will be able to immerse themselves in the magical and evocative atmospheres of ancient places and cultures, deepening their knowledge through the universal language of cinema.

Free access

Entrance to the exhibition is free for all participants, who will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite movie through an evaluation form distributed at the end of the evening screenings.

The projections

The program of the event includes 5 screenings in the afternoon from 4pm to 7pm e 3 in the evening from 8.30pm to 10.30pm for each location. At the end of the screening cycle: debate with the protagonists (directors, authors, filmmakers). An important moment of sharing among the Guests / Spectators who attended.

In southern Ethiopia there are wells that sink thirty meters underground. Men and women bring the necessary water to the surface, while their singing marks the work.
