The former freight yard of the capital city has been the subject of a rethink and modernization by the municipal administration for some time now.
In fact, the Municipality of Ragusa has long since started a virtuous process of widespread improvement of the territory to revitalize public spaces and thus transform them into meeting places. Specifically, the intention of the administration is to provide impetus to entrepreneurial activities, to restore meaning and life to the historic center of Ragusa.
The redevelopment of the Ragusa station is one of the works that has a notable importance, several works including the area of the freight yard, where work is being done for the redevelopment to bring back to life and functionality a nerve center of Ragusa.
For this reason, the establishment of economic-social-cultural activities in an area that is being reborn and therefore expands to fruition favors the economy, sociality and promotes healthy ways of living in the community.
In this context, the notice of an expression of interest published on the portal of the Municipality of Ragusa is inserted, aimed both at the concession for use for the purposes of valorization of a property, currently under construction intended for a bar-restaurant, and for the municipal property formerly the State Railways located at the freight yard.
“It is necessary to share, to work in synergy with the main actors of the economic, cultural and social relaunch of the site, ideas are needed on the nature and purpose of these properties, on their use and their possible use – declares the Councilor for Economic Development Giorgio Massari -. To this end, the Economic Development offices are available for further clarifications”.
In both cases, the Department of Economic Development intends to start a virtuous process of widespread improvement of the territory to revitalize public spaces and transform them into meeting places by pursuing objectives of collective interest capable of involving and enhancing private interests.
In particular, the Department of Economic Development intends to provide impetus to entrepreneurial activities that primarily serve the resident population.
“It is about – continues Giorgio Massari – carrying out important activities not only from an economic point of view but mainly from a social point of view, because only a close connection between the territory, the needs of a community, the return to life of old and historic places through their rebirth and their full enjoyment, can themselves be protagonists of a community that believes and wants to live, investing in our history, in our past, we can choose our future with the tools we have at our disposal”.
The deadline for submitting proposals is August 3, 2024.
