A disturbance arriving from central Europe will bring a new worsening of weather conditions to most of the Italian peninsular regions, including Calabria. Starting from the early hours of today, Tuesday 2 July, precipitation, mainly thunderstorms, is expected in the internal and Adriatic areas of the center-south, together with a strengthening of ventilation from the north-western quadrants.
The warning issued by the Department of Civil Protection, in collaboration with the regions involved, indicates that weather phenomena could cause hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities. In particular, strong to gale-force winds are expected in Calabria, with greater effects on the Ionian sectors and along the Strait of Sicily. Storm surges are expected along the exposed coasts. In addition, scattered precipitation is expected, in the form of showers or thunderstorms, with possible heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, localized hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.
The Department of Civil Protection has assessed a yellow alert for tomorrow for part of Calabria, together with other regions such as Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia and Basilicata. This assessment indicates a risk of criticality for the territory, with the possibility of intense weather events that could cause damage and inconvenience.
