Prime Minister Meloni at the Sassari trial against Alessio Scurosu, the 40-year-old from Sassari accused of defamation for having published fake videos on a US pornographic website using Meloni’s face on the bodies of the protagonists of hard scenes. The testimony of the Prime Minister herself, who has joined the civil action and is called to testify as an injured party, is expected in the courtroom. According to what has been learned, the Prime Minister will not be present in the courtroom but should testify via video conference directly from Rome.
The hearing has been set for 1:00 p.m. and will take place in the Assize Court room, equipped with the necessary equipment for live broadcast. Meloni, assisted by lawyer Maria Giulia Marongiu, has already announced the request for damages of 100 thousand euros, which will be allocated to the Ministry of the Interior fund for women victims of violence. The investigation was launched by the Sassari postal police in 2020, following a report received directly from Rome. Using the nickname used on the website, the officers traced the telephone number from which the data had originated and therefore identified the alleged authors of the videos that had been circulating online for several months. Alessio Scurosu and his father Roberto, 73, ended up on trial, the latter having obtained probation and assignment for a 4-month community service program at the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted.
