Last Sunday, Lago di Nicoletti (Enna) hosted the regional canoeing event for the Ragazzi, Junior and Senior categories plus the Canoa Giovani circuit. The event is also valid as a selection for the Coni Trophy. Excellent performance by the unbridled canoeists of the Circolo Canoa Catania, who despite the heat collected a precious haul of medals on the distances of 500 and 200 meters, while for the little ones on the 2,000 and 200 meters. All this while Anastasia Insabella from Catania, European Junior champion in the K1 1,000 meters, was fighting in the final of the K1 500 meters in Bratislava.

At Lago di Nicoletti, in the 500 meters, gold medal for Ivan Russo in the K1 Ragazzi and for Sofia Di Grazia in the K1 Ragazze; silver for Ivan Russo and Manuel Moro in the K2 Ragazzi; bronze for Alice Squadrito in the K1 Junior, for Carlo Trombetta in the K1 Ragazzi and in the K1 Junior and for Alice Squadrito in the K1 Senior.

In the Youth Canoe (2,000 metres) victory for Lorenzo Bonaccorsi in K1 Cadetti A; second Andrea Mazzola in K1 Allievi B; third Greta Romano in K1 Cadette A; fourth place Elea Torrisi in K1 Cadette B.

In the 200 meters (Youth Canoe) four gold medals for the Circolo Canoa Catania with Lorenzo Bonaccorsi in K1 Cadetti A, Andrea Mazzola in K1 Allievi B, Roberta Parisi in K1 Allieve B and Lorenzo Bonaccorsi and Riccardo Tedesco in K2 Cadetti A. Two silver medals: Salvatore Cantale in K1 Cadetti A and Daniele Tedesco in K1 Allievi B; third place for Greta Romano in K1 Cadette A. Finally fourth place for Elea Torrisi in K1 Cadette B and for Andrea Mazzola and Danilo Tedesco in K2 Allievi B.

“The feedback collected today in the water by our boys was good – says the coach of the Circolo Canoa Catania, Ciccio Moro -. At this point in the season and a few weeks away from the Italian Championships, the athletes are doing well. I am confident for the future”.

Great satisfaction was also expressed by the Canoa Giovani coach, Daniele Romano, who is working hard with the little ones towards the prestigious Meeting delle Regioni in Caldonazzo (Trento).
