In Turin, July began under the sign of bad weather, like the previous months. A very heavy rain, accompanied by wind and hail, is hitting the northern area of the city, especially between Vanchiglia, Vanchiglietta, Madonna del Pilone and Barriera di Milano. In Corso Belgio 54 a tree was uprooted by the wind and gusts of water, falling on the tram wires.
Problems, inconveniences and fallen trees
But critical situations are also reported in the areas of Borgo Filadelfia and Pozzo Strada, given that the disturbance then spread to the southern and western areas of the Piedmont capital.
“Unfortunately, what was predicted happened: fortunately no one got hurt.” comments the coordinator of the Green 7 Marta Sara Inìwith reference to the failure to redevelop Corso Belgio and replace the old maples. Problems and fallen trees also in Corso Brianza at the corner of Via Oropa, with some cars paying the consequences, being hit. Request for a state of emergency
And on the bad weather front that hit the Turin valleys between Saturday and Sunday, the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio signed the request for a state of emergency addressed to the Prime Minister Georgia Melonito the Minister of Civil Protection Nello Musumeci and head of the Civil Protection department, Fabrizio Curcio.

“In just a few hours, approximately 200 millimetres of rain fell, which, even more so considering the mountainous territory involved, constitutes a truly exceptional event” declares the Councilor for Civil Protection Marco Gabusi.
