Jolanda De Rienzo, journalist and presenter of Sportitalia, spoke on “1 Football Club”, a radio program hosted by Luca Cerchione on 1 Station Radio. Below is an excerpt from the interview.
The European debacle has distant origins. In the Italian club market, for example, the foreign track is always preferred.
“I’m always tired of the same old wise guys. Everyone seems to be good at passing judgment on the solution to offer to improve the structure of our football. The problem certainly concerns the playing time of our talents. However, it is useless to complain about every disaster of the national team if, then, there are no substantial reforms. Spalletti, when he talks about the time he needs to build a project, is not entirely wrong. Asking for the head of a coach seems very foolish to me. A discussion based on bar chatter, rather than on the construction of a project”
With more time available, can we expect to reap some results from Luciano Spalletti’s leadership?
“Every team, and its path, is different. Just think of Ancelotti’s disappointing adventure at Napoli, despite being one of the most successful coaches. Luciano himself has declared that he expects a different intensity from his players. Whether in the long run we can get results, therefore, I cannot say. Nevertheless, if Luciano decides to move forward, he will have his reasons”
There was talk of a lack of phenomena. Yet, Switzerland had none…
“Yakin has taken a different path, years of building the national team. If we say that Spalletti, in some way, fell into the trap of excuses in his press conference, we can admit that it is so. He had some lapses in style. Talking about generational talents means clinging to excuses. You have lost, and that is all that matters”
Can Chiesa really join Napoli?
“Considering that the European Championship has just finished, I think we will have to wait a moment. There was the incursion of the Italian management in Germany to resolve the current problems with Kvaratskhelia. Now, however, we will have to build new contacts for Chiesa”
Napoli appear to be having problems with the sale of Victor Osimhen.
“I trust the working group that is being formed this season. I believe that the new director has done a great job and, in this sense too, I believe that some answers may arrive in the next few days”
