Autonomy, here we go. Veneto asks for the first 9 subjects

AGI – “Today we are signing the reopening of the national negotiation table on autonomy. We are starting from where we left off”. This was stated by the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia during a press conference organised at Palazzo Balbi, seat of the regional council. The governor then specified that negotiations will immediately focus on “nine subjects not subjected to Lep” which can therefore immediately be at the center of the discussion. “In 24 months we will be able to discuss the other 14 subjects” he then specified.

“We have a dossier for each subject and we are ready to present it for each subject requested. We will gather the regional consultation table and we will take all the steps we need to take. But the dossiers are already ready, there are 9 dossiers to discuss, also hearing the ideas of our counterpart because agreements are made by two. The menu includes the 9 subjects”. This was said by the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia speaking at a press conference in Venice. (

In the letter signed today by the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia and addressed to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Minister Roberto Calderoli for the resumption of negotiations for autonomy, the 9 subjects are required for which, to date, the determination of the essential levels of performance (Lep) is not foreseen on the basis of the approved law.

It’s about:

  • Organization of Justice of the Peace;
  • International and EU relations of the Region;
  • Foreign Trade; Professions;
  • Civil protection;
  • Complementary and supplementary social security;
  • Coordination of public finance and the tax system;
  • Savings banks, rural banks, regional credit companies;
  • Regional land and agricultural credit institutions.

To these the governor Luca Zaia then asks to add, “for a first investigation of the more complex attribution profiles, the matters on which there has already been convergence between the State and the Region within the scope of the preliminary Agreement” signed with the Government on 28 February 2018. These are employment policies, education, protection of the environment and ecosystem and health protection. All this, with the aim of continuing with the negotiation of the remaining 10 matters, for which the relevant Lep have yet to be determined, namely: Protection of cultural heritage; Enhancement of cultural and environmental assets and promotion and organization of cultural activities; Scientific and technological research and support for innovation for production sectors; Diet; Sports regulations; Territorial government; Civil ports and airports; Large transport and navigation networks; Communication ordering; National energy production, transport and distribution.
