The cistern tower of the former Angelini distillery in Trani also collapsed and now the Castle and Cathedral are clearly visible even from the North where the so-called “Costa Nord” project is being born. In recent days, an agreement was signed with the Superintendency to demolish that octagonal tower and recover only some artifacts of the large area on which a second municipal villa on the sea in Trani will be built. Collaboration between the bodies is fundamental, as explained by Mayor Amedeo Bottaro, considering that the project, which is part of the many works financed thanks to the PINQUA, in this case with 18 million euros, must be completed by March 2026.

The works in the area of the former Angelini, built in 1937 and which should have been demolished way back in 1993, officially began at the end of May. The “Costa Nord” project, we remember, will envisage a real second municipal villa on the sea mirroring the one that already characterizes the Trani seafront beyond the city port. A truly new gateway to the city for those arriving from the north with the creation of 18 thousand square meters of park and new public social housing. In the project which will also include pedestrian spaces, cycle paths, car parks and the redevelopment of Piazza Re Manfredi in front of the Tranese Castle, there will also be space for environmental sustainability considering that part of the 60 thousand square meters of demolished reinforced concrete will be used to fill the cisterns present in the former distillery. The timing for the works remains extremely time-bound considering that the PNRR funds have very little margin for negotiation in terms of time.
