It had become the nightmare of city center residents, who every morning were terrified of finding their car burgled. A serial thief specialized in smashing and stealing parked cars was arrested in recent days by the local police, at the end of an investigation that continued for several weeks.
According to what was found by the agents during night checks and stakeouts, the man is responsible for fifteen robberies carried out in the last few weeks.
The thief had lost sight of the downtown neighborhoods, especially San Giuseppe. He waited for dark to take action, smashing car windows and stealing the objects, valuable or not, that he found inside.
A crime for which he had already been arrested, red-handed, in June 2023, when he was stopped by the officers while he was stealing a backpack with a computer and computer equipment from a car parked right near the church of San Giuseppe.
The man is also accused of receiving stolen goods. For four crimes committed in May, the investigating judge of the Court of Sassari ordered the precautionary measure of prison, at the request of the public prosecutor, taking into account the particular personality of the subject. The arrested man was arrested in the streets of the historic center and then transferred to the Bancali prison.
