Livorno, 28 June 2024 – To prevent the auction of 28 apartments rented at controlled rent to the same number of families in via Giolitti in Shanghai, an agreement is scheduled for 30 June between the Region, Housing Sociale Toscana (a group of cooperatives that operates on behalf of the Region), the financial company of Milano Investire, the creditors of Consabit and the company Consabit. The latter “built the apartments in via Giolitti, on land owned by the Municipality of Livorno, with funds from the Region for social housing. – recalls the Asia Usb union that assists the 28 families – Cosabit then asked for financing from the Banca di Credito Cooperativo Castagneto Carducci for its other activities, putting these 28 apartments as collateral, which were all mortgaged. When Cosabit found itself in difficulty, the bank turned to the Court, which started the process for the auction sale”. At that point the 28 families turned to the Asia Usb union to ask for help and to avoid the danger of ending up on the streets. So after pressure from the assignees and the Asia union, the Region came forward “with the proposal made to the creditors,” explains Asia, “that is, a debt collection company in Milan to which Banca di Credito Cooperativo Castagneto Carducci had in the meantime transferred the credits it had against Consabit. The judge then set the deadline for the signed agreement to be presented for July 25.” The signature was postponed because the Revenue Agency came forward and demanded 110 thousand euros from Consabit. This last problem alarmed the families and Asia Usb, who met in front of the Municipality on June 20. It was then that the regional social affairs councilor Susanna Spinelli set an online meeting for July 9 before the July 25 deadline indicated by the Livorno Court.
