The Compagnia della Vela is ready to restart and become an exclusive club. The scaffolding set up some time ago is a prelude to a complete external and internal restyling of the building which – it is whispered – will be relaunched with a brand new restaurant for members and the strengthening of sailing education activities as well as a better use of the spaces beach in front with tents and services. According to rumours, in fact, the president of the Compagnia della Vela, Lorenzo Barberi, would have made an agreement with the entrepreneur Pasquale Lanza who has already bet in the town, first by valorising the Assunta bathing establishment in Roma Imperiale (then sold to the Maestrelli family) and then by starting the first Campana doc pizzeria, Regina Margherita, on Via Provinciale. Now Lanza would have made a substantial investment for the recovery and modernization of the building on the seaside avenue, ready to host an exclusive club with fish restaurant on the upper floor: floors completely redone and the beautiful panoramic windows repositioned with more adequate frames . In fact, tables will also be available on the terrace overlooking the pier which is also undergoing renovation. A local chef has already been hired to manage the kitchen for guaranteed opening all year round.
But there won’t just be the gourmet aspect as the Company is preparing to increase the activities dedicated to children’s education in the practice of water sports and to offer a real tent service such as an exclusive beach club:
in fact, in the concession strip adjacent to the pier, two tents have already been erected and as many as 10 are planned for the season. The inauguration of the new chapter of the Compagnia della Vela is still top secret, even if the opening is expected – given the complexity of the redevelopment intervention – not before July 25th.
