June is coming to an end and many are starting to wonder if this year the traditional “Bitonto Summer”, which sees a series of shows and artists follow one another in the city of oil.

The municipal administration has published two public notices, one of which – festival network – closed on June 20th while the other – for smaller events that are part of the “Bitonto Estate” project – will close on July 1st. In both cases the aim is for formats capable of enhancing the various spaces of the city, including the hamlets, transforming them into a widespread stage for an articulated and varied review of artistic, cultural and musical events, in order to create an ideal combination of desire of healthy entertainment and valorisation of the historical and architectural heritage.

«The big festivals that we host in the city, such as blues and jazz, will be confirmed – is what the mayor declares Francis Paul Ricci to BitontoLive – and in the next few days the office, once all the proposals have been received, will draw up the calendar of all the events. We expect to start on July 10th”.

For both tenders, the Municipality of Bitonto will be able to ensure co-financing up to a maximum of 60% of the entire spending budget of the festival or of the single initiative (and in any case up to a maximum sum of 20 thousand euros, as regards festivals). Instead, a technical-administrative commission will evaluate the proposals received by the structure and assign each one the relative score based on parameters such as networking ability, quality of the artistic project and economic sustainability.

Only a few days ago the majority and the opposition who sit on the benches of Palazzo Gentile clashed in a back-and-forth regarding the organization of the city’s summer events. While the centre-right councilors asked for “transparency and equal treatment” in the request for permits and authorizations, reporting “clearly discriminatory restrictions against those who wish to get involved for the first time”, from the majority benches they sent the accusations back to the sender because they lacked evidence and they made it clear that Bitonto will have its own program of events this summer too.
