Two young people risk drowning in the sea in front of the Marisol bathroom in Marina di Ravenna: saved by two brave swimmers

The evening swim in the sea risked costing dearly to two girls, tourists on holiday in Marina di Ravenna who last night thought they would enjoy the thrill of the waves, without noticing the wind blowing dangerously out to sea.

The misadventure, which fortunately ended well thanks to the courage of two swimmers who were not frightened by the rough sea and tried everything to help the two young women, unfolded within a few minutes around 7pm, near the Marisol bathroom.

The girls’ mother, resident in France and guest of the Piomboni campsite, raised the alarm by calling desperately for help. The timely response of two men present on the beach averted a tragedy. The first to dive into the sea was a swimmer from Ravenna (MM), followed by a second rescuer, also a professional one (LT), a fire brigade official, who managed, with extreme difficulty, to save one of the two girls. Meanwhile, the exhausted first responder continued to keep the other girl afloat, even though her life was in danger.

At that moment, an employee of the bathing establishment intervened, rescuing both swimmers and bringing them to safety on the shore. Thanks to the quick and courageous action of the people of Ravenna, the two girls were saved and everyone involved is now safe.

“This event highlights the courage and altruism of those who, without hesitation, threw themselves into the sea to save lives, risking their own. The heroic gesture of the rescuers deserves to be known and appreciated, an example of extraordinary spirit of sacrifice and humanity”, say the Ravenna Fire Brigade, who reported the episode.
