Monopoli-San Giovanni Rotondo: the bike pilgrimage started from the Plastic-Puglia headquarters

This year too, with the tenacity and passion that distinguishes them, the cyclists of the ASD “In Bike Monopoli” reached San Giovanni Rotondo to complete a feat of faith and sport that led them to cycle for approximately 370 km between round trip, to pay homage to San Pio.

The group, led by Gennaro Palmitessa, is made up of Paolo Palmitessa, Carlo Scarano, Felice Munno, Romualdo Topputi, Francesco Perricci, Gianni Sabatelli, Nico Amodio, Stefano Sportelli, Erminio Cavaliere, Gianni Cascione, Vito Rizzi, Cosimo Sportelli, Leonardo Tropiano, Dino Cofano, Onofrio Colella, Dario Sicoli, Francesco Pedone and Marino Minoia.

The athletes started from the Marian shrine of the Madonna della Madia erected in front of the entrance to Plastic-Puglia, welcomed by Grand Office. Baron Vitantonio Coluccifounder and president of Plastic-Puglia industrial group.

After about 8 hours of cycling, immersed in the suggestive Apulian landscapes, the cyclists arrived in San Giovanni Rotondo, where they stopped in meditation and prayer at the places linked to the life of San Pio. An experience of profound spirituality which culminated with participation in the Holy Mass.

The return to Monopoli is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, in the same place of departure. The initiative, which has been repeated for years with great success, represents a perfect combination of sport and devotion, while promoting the use of the bicycle as an ecological and healthy means of transport.

In addition to the religious and sporting value, the bike pilgrimage to San Giovanni Rotondo represents a moment of aggregation and an opportunity to share the passion for two wheels and strengthen the bonds of friendship that unite them.
