Faenza, interventions on 50 km of power lines

The Faenza electricity system is renewed with investments from E-Distribuzione and Pnrr funds: the Enel Group company, which manages the medium and low voltage electricity network, after having concluded the network strengthening plan with the “Resilience” project , is working to bring to Faenza «a safer, more flexible and digitalized network capable of welcoming more energy from renewable sources and supporting greater electrification of consumption».

The substantial plan of interventions, presented to the municipal administration of Faenza, will see the strengthening of the network for approximately 50 km of medium voltage lines, both overhead and underground, the construction of three new medium voltage lines as well as the reconstruction and strengthening works and automation of approximately 130 secondary cabins distributed throughout the area. The works consist of replacing transformers, which will be able to satisfy future requests for increased power, and equipping the secondary substations with the best technological innovations in automation and remote control to reduce the times needed to restore the electricity service in the event of any faults. Furthermore, the renewal and construction works for 19 km of low voltage network are in the planning and authorization phase.

With this restyling plan, the Primary Substation located in the city center of Faenza will be strengthened, with benefits in terms of better quality of service for almost 38 thousand customers: the substation, in fact, is a strategic plant within the electricity system because it receives electricity from high voltage lines of the national transmission network to transform it into medium voltage and distribute it widely, towards companies and homes, over a very vast territory.

«The strengthening of the electricity distribution network – states the mayor Massimo Isola -, especially in this historical moment during which we are witnessing a strong implementation of renewable sources, is a fundamental and highly topical issue for improving user services. This is why we are very grateful to E-Distribuzione for the important investment that, through the Pnrr tenders, it has decided to make in our territory to further improve its services”.

«The Pnrr funds – declares the manager of E-Distribuzione of Ravenna Cristiano D’Orinzi – are an extraordinary opportunity to work on several fronts such as strengthening the capacity of the networks that bring energy to homes and businesses, the development of the production of distributed renewable plants, electrification and resilience to increasingly violent and unpredictable atmospheric phenomena. Thanks to the overall initiatives planned in the area, we aim to concretely enable the city of Faenza to all the opportunities of the energy transition”.
