Heat wave on Molfetta on 19-20 June

The regional Civil Protection informs citizens that the arrival of hot air will lead to a thermal increase in the regional territory on 19-20 June 2024.

Temperatures may reach peaks between 34 and 37 °C. The Ministry of Health has issued level 2 for June 20, 2024.

The population is invited to follow the general advice dictated by the Ministry of Health:

  • Avoid exposing yourself to heat and direct sun during the hottest hours of the day (between 11.00 and 18.00);
  • Avoid particularly crowded areas, in particular for very young children, the elderly, people with asthma and other respiratory diseases, people who are not self-sufficient or convalescent.
  • Avoid vigorous outdoor physical activity during the hottest times of the day.
  • Spend a few hours in an air-conditioned public place, particularly during the hottest hours of the day.
  • Wear light, light clothing made of natural fibers (e.g. cotton, linen), cover your head with a light-coloured hat and use sunglasses.
  • Protect your skin from sunburn with sunscreens with a high protection factor.
  • Drink liquids, moderating the intake of carbonated or sugary drinks, tea and coffee. Also avoid too cold drinks and alcoholic beverages.
  • If the car is not air conditioned, avoid traveling during the hottest hours of the day (11am-6pm). Don’t forget to bring sufficient supplies of water with you in case of unexpected queues or queues
  • Do not leave dependent people, children and the elderly, even for a short time, in the car parked in the sun
  • Make sure sick or bedridden people are not overly covered.
