An authentic vigneron, a golden gem to delve deeply into the soul of the best-known and most appreciated Irpinian white grape variety in Italy. Ferrara was founded in 1880 as a grape production and processing company. The vineyards, we are in the heart of the municipality of Tufo, in the San Paolo area, have southern exposure, planted on soil rich in calcium, potassium, silicon and, in depth, sulphur. Tufo was famous for its sulfur mines, which remained in operation for almost the entire nineteenth century and which made it an important production centre. Benito, Gabriella’s father, understood before others how important the creation of his own cellar could be for the production of wine and dedicated himself body and soul, together with his wife Michelina, to the foundation and development of the new company. Since 1991 Gabriella Ferrara began working hard together with her husband Sergio to enhance her production, labeling on her own and stubbornly continuing the family tradition. During the 90s the fame of the two whites was built around the three hectares of Greek thanks to the beautiful interpretation of Paolo Caciorgna and Emilia Tartaglione. Then the leap with the purchase of four hectares in Montemiletto where Aglianico was planted and the expansion of the range, the heart still remains the Greco di Tufo docg. Today the energy and liveliness of this company is confirmed by the entry into the production process of their children Antonio and Lucia. The company also produces grappa from its own pomace. Upcoming programs: the new cellar with tasting room and terrace overlooking the vineyards.
