The Santa Rosa Machine “ambassador of peace”. And also «a combination of faith, history and culture. Viterbo rises upwards thanks to its patron saint.” This is perhaps the passage with which the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani best summarized the theme of yesterday’s meeting in the Sala Regia of Palazzo dei Priori. Because we were talking about “The role of Maeci in the promotion of Italian identity in the world – UNESCO Heritage and cultural diplomacy”, precisely on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the recognition of the Network of Large Backpack Machines as an intangible heritage of humanity.

But yesterday the deputy prime minister also gave other news: «The “Food for Gaza” project will start from Nepi, in the hope of preparing the ground for two states that can coexist». This is a project created to facilitate access to food aid, alleviate the suffering of the population and guarantee food security in the Gaza Strip. In Nepi there is a structure made available by Coldiretti to collect food supplies. Everything will therefore start from Tuscia and Tajani himself will be present next Monday in Nepi.

Yesterday the prefect Gennaro Capo invited the minister to the next Transport. The mayor Chiara Frontini, the president of the Province Alessandro Romoli, the president of the Association Massimo Mecarini and the coordinator of the Network Patrizia Nardi have focused heavily on “Machines of Peace”, the traveling exhibition which has already touched Bethlehem, the Balkans, Prague and is now scheduled in Paris. «Our embassies – said Tajani – are always protagonists of cultural initiatives and are available to the Internet. Viterbo wants to feel safe thanks to the protection of the saint. Our identity, history, faith are a way of presenting ourselves beyond borders, of being bearers of positive messages.”

Regarding the exhibition: «I still remember the phone call from Giulio Marini to organize the event in Bethlehem: I immediately made myself available». And then he highlighted other beauties of the capital. «Just wander around Viterbo and see the Popes’ palace to understand how much culture there is in the history of our country. With the Machine there is art, faith, belonging: it is a kind of great summary of things that identify Tuscia. It is a work of art and an instrument of peace: there is a need to send these messages.” After Palazzo dei Priori, stop at the Union for the electoral meeting in view of the European elections.
