Corigliano-Rossano, employees of the “3 Emme” cooperative go on strike: «Enough teasing»

Monday 27 May will be a day of strike and mobilization for the employees of local cooperative “3 Emme” in the industrial area of Contrada Salice a Corigliano Rossano. The workers, represented by Filcams Cgil, they decided to cross their arms for the whole day in front of the company gates, to protest against the unfair company policies and the anti-union behavior of the cooperative.

The decision to strike was taken following years of tension and lack of dialogue between the cooperative and union representatives. “We are tired of the cooperative’s mockery,” he said Andrea Ferrone, general secretary of Filcams Cgil Pollino Sibaritide Tirreno.

«Finally a breakthrough has been opened with the appointment of a union representative and the registration of a good number of workers, who now they are ready to claim their rights without fear.”

The workers’ main claims concern the unjustified dismissal of a colleague who recently joined Filcams Cgil, and the failure to receive the transfer compensation promised by the company. “If 3 Emme doesn’t back down, we will challenge the dismissal in court,” added Ferrone.

Added to this is another question. That is to say the CAP 2000 decision, the parent company that supplies the well-known Conad brand, to move the company headquarters from Corigliano Rossano to Montalto, which is generating further concerns among workers. The cooperative expects employees to undertake this journey every day at their own expense, despite the low monthly salary that workers earn, barely exceeding one thousand euros.

«We invite all two hundred employees of 3 Emme to fight against this grotesque corporate attitude by joining the strike next Monday», concluded Ferrone.
