Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello SportNicholas Zaniolo he spoke, among other things, about Paulo Fonsecathe main candidate for the Rossoneri bench, and of Milan’s interest in last year’s winter transfer market session.

On Fonseca:

“For me, Fonseca is a great coach, a very good, honest person. On the pitch he likes attacking play, with him we always tried to attack. I felt good. If he goes to Milan, I will be happy for him.”

On what impressed him most about the Portuguese coach:

“Unfortunately I didn’t spend much of his second year because I was never there: with the broken cruciate, I only worked to recover. However, I remember the attention to detail that he had in training and the serenity he showed in a difficult place like Rome. These are not qualities for everyone.”

On what he can give to this Milan:

“He can obviously do better at Milan than he did at Roma, also because the team is strong. Let’s not forget that Fonseca reached the semi-finals of the Europa League with Roma, eliminating Braga, Shakhtar and Ajax.”

On how close an agreement was with Maldini last year to joining the Rossoneri:

“Yes, there was definitely something and, even after a year and a half, I’m pleased. It is an honor to have been considered worthy of Milan. There were dialogues, even meetings, then nothing was done. It happens often in football…”
