LPG plant in Bari, the government said yes

The Council of Ministers has given the green light to the construction of two large wind and agrivoltaic plants in Basilicata. And he also said yes to the construction of a liquid natural gas distribution plant in the Marisabella port area of Bari. All the works were approved by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

In Bari, the resolution authorizing «works for the construction of a liquid natural gas (LNG) distribution plant for vehicles powered by a cryogenic LNG tank» has a particularly controversial history behind it because both the Superintendency for the Metropolitan City and the Municipality itself of Bari had expressed clear dissent to the work, effectively blocking it. So what happened in the Council of Ministers? In the matter of «dissent between state administrations that emerged during service conferences», it was decided «on the proposal» of the prime minister «to overcome the dissent» expressed by the Superintendence and the Municipality of Bari. In short, the Government decided regardless of the positions against local administrations. Decision taken pursuant to article 5-bis of the legislative decree of 20 June 2017, n. 91, «where it is necessary to balance public interests consisting of the objectives of conserving the environmental context and the need to carry out the public work».

In Basilicata, however, the wind farm called “Santa Irene” and the connection works to be built in Melfi have been authorized. Also “on the proposal” of Meloni – according to a note released by Palazzo Chigi – “the positive environmental impact assessment judgment relating to the agrivoltaic system project, called “Agrivoltaico Piani Gorgo Pezza Chiarella”, including connection works, was approved. to be carried out again in Basilicata in the Municipality of Oppido Lucano with a total power of 16,833.10 KW (15,600.00 KW in injection)”.
