Unity Grand Ball in Bologna, 28th edition: where and when

Bologna, 24 May 2024 – A journey back intonineteenth centurythe age of travel. 8 hundred Apsin collaboration with the civic museum of the Risorgimento of the Bologna Civic Museums Sector and the Bologna committee of the Institute for History of the Italian Risorgimentois ready to organize the 28th edition of the Grand Unity Dance. The appointment is for Sunday May 26th at 18 in the square Carducci.

Celebrating the nineteenth century

The nineteenth century is considered by many to be the age of travel and the first globalization. Precisely for this reason, in fact, it was chosen as the scenario of Grand Unity Dance nineteenth-century themed Carducci squareone of the symbols of Bologna of the time.

There plot of the great ball revolves around the figure of the Bolognese Garibaldino Paolo Bovi Campeggi, interpreted by Samuele Reggianiwhile meeting six different protagonists who visited Bologna as foreigners. The figure of stands out among them Louise Poitevinwhich in 1854 carried out the first balloon flight over the city.

One hundred dancers from the cultural association 8Hundred Apsin historical costumes, are ready to dance to the rhythm of polkas, quadrilles and waltzes typical of the countries of origin of the six protagonist travellers: Ireland, Poland, America, France, Germany And Italy.

The historical contact for the show, directed by Alessia Branchiis Mirtide Gavelli, while the screenplay is by Marina Busi.

The Grand Ball and the simultaneous initiatives

In view of the Unity Grand Ball, the civic museum of the Risorgimento remains open for the day Saturday 25 May until to 21with free entry starting from 3.30pm. On this occasion, the exhibition set up inside the museum entitled ‘Painting in Bologna in the long nineteenth century, 1796-1915‘, edited by Roberto Martorelli And Isabella Stancari.
