UlisseFest 2024: 4 days in Ancona signed by Lonely Planet

Four days of meetings to think about our impact on the world and to explore its infinite souls through the stories of authors, music and dance. Ancona is preparing to host from 4 to 7 July the seventh edition of UlyssesFestthe travel festival organized by the EDT publishing house, sole partner of Lonely Planet in Italy, which has been publishing the famous guides for over 30 years.

Now in its seventh edition, the event confirms itself as a meeting place for travellers, bloggers, photographers, authors, journalists and artists, open to discussion, exchanges and dialogue between cultures. From morning to evening, squares, museums and historic buildings of the Marche capital will be the setting for meetings, readings, shows, films, concerts and DJ sets in the presence of Italian and international guests.

The theme chosen for the 2024 edition will be Exploring the unknownwith the aim of investigating this action that we all carry out more or less consciously: in everyday life, making new and different choices, or by travelling, visiting new lands, experimenting with new itineraries and dealing with new scenarios.

Among the new features of UlisseFest2024, the introduction to the new edition with two previews. The first with Alessandro D’Avenia which will be held on Friday May 31st at 9pm at Theater of the Muses. The writer, teacher and screenwriter will reflect on the figure of the Homeric hero and on the ability of the myth to positively influence our lives. A topic dear to him already investigated in Hold on, heart. The Odyssey and the art of being mortalwhere he retraces the twenty-four cantos of the poem in a sort of art of living, creating a parallel between the epic journey of Ulysses and the existential path of each of us.

Followed by Tuesday 2nd of Julyit will be the turn of Peppe Servillo who will bring the show to the stage A fortune teller told me in the Auditorium of Mole Vanvitelliana: a tribute to Tiziano Terzani, twenty years after his death, and a journey to discover the world through his ever-present gaze.

Evenings of music at the new Arena sul Mare

The evenings of UlisseFest will be animated by various concerts hosted in the new one Arena on the Sea, at the Old Port. Conceived as a real open-air theater, it will host the concert of Vasco Brondi which will inaugurate the event on 4th Julywith songs from his latest work A sign of lifea personal manifesto of humanity and empathy between contaminations and distorted sounds.

The following evening, it will be the turn of the Super Taranta nightthe music of Salento which, from a local dimension, has achieved global resonance, and, following this, the public will be invited to take a fun and nostalgic journey together with the DJ set Fever in the ’90s, dancing to the notes of the best 90s music and beyond. Saturday July 6 finally, the Arena sul Mare will welcome the singer-songwriter Malika Ayanewhich will be followed by a DJ set by Skin, the historic voice of Skunk Anansie.

A program full of authors and meetings

In addition to music, the program will also be full of meetings, readings and shows. With Vincenzo Schettinithe famous prof of physics and content creator known for informative videos published on social networks, the July 6 at the Teatro delle Muse we will talk about how travel is a question of physics and that the meeting points between the laws that regulate the world and our passion for discovering the planet are countless. Sunday July 7at the Mole Auditorium, Federico Rampini will tell the profound soul of the United States, his adopted land and profound knowledge of the contradictions and multifaceted identity of a country that escapes stereotypes and simplifications.
