Seven students with disabilities on top of the Bismantova Stone

Thanks to the “At outdoor school” project, financed by the Province, seven high school students with disabilities and their classmates had a wonderful experience on Wednesday in the Reggio Emilia Apennines. The project, promoted by Gast onlus together with the Secchi institutes of Reggio and Einaudi of Correggio and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, is aimed at promoting physical and sporting practice in a natural environment by secondary school students, particularly those with disabilities. The project also aims to offer opportunities for growth and social inclusion through cycling practices (also with special vehicles), trekking and in the winter season skiing activities and excursions. The day started with an exciting climb up Pietra di Bismantova. Welcomed by the delegate councilor of the Province, Erica Spadaccini, by the president of the Park, Fausto Giovannelli, and by the head teacher Beatrice Menozzi, seven special students of Secchi and Einaudi – accompanied by about twenty classmates and teachers – set off with the guides environmental excursions by ‘Altri passi’ Daniele Canossini and Martina Bianchi with also two joelettes available, special aids that allow people with reduced mobility to be transported on mountain paths. Students, guides and companions were truly fantastic: in the end everyone managed to accomplish this “small, big feat” by reaching the top of the Stone. “A magnificent day – commented the president of Gast, Giacomo Cibelli – I truly thank from the bottom of my heart not only the Province, which believed in the project, but also the kids, the teachers, the companions and the guides who gave us this day like this important”.
