There have been many messages of condolence for the death of the actor, director and producer, who died today at the age of 56 after the car accident in which he was seriously injured on May 16th.

The world of cinema was shocked today by the news of the death of Gaetano Di Vaio: the director, actor and producer, 56 years old, died in hospital, after six days of hospitalization, from serious injuries sustained in a car accident in which he was involved on May 16th. Known to most for his part as “Baroncino” in the Gomorra series, Di Vaio was also a producer with his “Bronx Film”. Many messages of condolence, coming not only from the world of cinema, actually appeared on social networks when the news of Di Vaio’s death spread.

Sandro Fucitopresident of the VI Municipality of Naples (Barra, San Giovanni a Teduccio, Ponticelli), of which Gaetano Di Vaio was originally from, wrote:

Sometimes being able to stand alongside those who, from selling drinks to the Roma camp in 1998, had the grit and determination to bring the reasons for redemption, suffering and the need for equality to an international level, was a source of great privilege for me. Seeing the success gave us all hope that things could change! You were the best son of this city, you went further despite the obstacles, the prejudices and the barriers posed by those who had position benefits to lose. At least in Naples, and not only, nothing will be as before

Also the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Lucaon Facebook, wanted to express the personal and administration’s condolences for the death of the director and producer:

How is Gaetano di Vaio after the accident: the conditions of the Neapolitan actor and producer

Goodbye to Gaetano Di Vaio, who died a few days after a road accident. The writer and producer was much loved by the public for his artistic skills, but also for his story of human and social redemption. From juvenile prison and Poggioreale he was able to rediscover the path of art and legality, producing films and TV series such as “Napoli, Napoli, Napoli” by Abel Ferrara and “Gomorrah, the series”. A hug to family and friends

The former mayor of Naples also joined in the condolences Luigi De Magistris. This is his message to Di Vaio:

Through his life, humanity and culture, Gaetano has demonstrated how one can change and become a point of reference especially for young people. There are many memories, among the best my first election campaign for mayor in 2011 when he followed me every day filming the revolution from below with his camera. For me Gaetano represented the victory of justice over legality. Hello Gaetano: “you will never have us”, this is how we ended a wonderful debate together in a school on the northern outskirts of our beloved Naples
