The FADOI course on bronchial endoscopy returns to Legnano Hospital

The evolution in the treatment of lung diseases requires increasingly sophisticated diagnostic techniques, which often fall within the competence of the pulmonologist specialist. To respond to these training needs, the FADOI Foundation has organised, for the second year in a row, a limited number of courses, divided into two sessions (one theoretical and one practical) atWest Milanese Asst. The event began today, May 21st, and saw the participation of over a dozen doctors, including many young people.

The works have been open since prof. Antonino Mazzonedirector of the Department of Medical Area and Continuity of Care of the ASST West Milanese, and by Valentino Lombo, medical director of the ASST West Milanese. Both highlighted the importance of this course designed specifically for the professional updating of interventional pulmonologists, as it allows them to improve diagnostic accuracy and the effectiveness of therapies.

During the conference, moderated by doctors Elisabetta Ricchiuti and Daniele Colombo, the validity of endobronchial ultrasound, or Endo-Bronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), was explained. A technique which, in simple words, allows you to carry out an ultrasound “from inside” the bronchi thanks to the echoendoscope. The Legnano Hospital has been using this type of procedure for some time now, just think that in a year More than 15o Convex Ebus and 35 Radial Ebus analyzes are carried out. Precisely because this type of examination allows a detailed approach to various diseases of the lung and chest, also facilitating diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures.

During the meeting the importance of multidisciplinarity was underlined: the pulmonologist collaborates with other professional figures to address these pathologies in a complete and integrated way. In this context it was explained that among the advanced diagnostic techniques, thoracic ultrasound and bronchial ultrasound (EBUS) represent crucial tools. The introduction of advanced diagnostic techniques such as thoracic ultrasound and bronchial echoendoscopy represents a significant step forward in the treatment of lung diseases, including tumors.
