“In Calabria there is an ancient Roman villa of inestimable value. It is the Villa di Palazzi di Casignana, which stands on the splendid Jasmine coast. Built during the 1st century AD, it preserves the largest nucleus of mosaics known so far in Calabria” , with these words Giuseppe Scuticchio, on Instagram next_heaven, a digital creator with over 120 thousand followers, talks about a unique jewel of the territory. After having been in the fantastic world of Baldissarro among the sculptures carved into the rock in Sant’Agata del Bianco, now it’s up to Casignana among the finds of an ancient Roman Villa of unique beauty.

This place which was discovered only 60 years ago is one of the most important archaeological sites in southern Italy and dates back to the imperial age. In the video that is getting plenty of clicks, you can see the images of this timeless home a stone’s throw from the sea where unique mosaics are coming back to light, bringing back pages of history with immeasurable charm.

Today this site is taking on new life thanks to an ambitious project, as we read in Scuticchio’s post: “With the “tech4you” project the complex has become a real open-air laboratory. Thanks to NextGenerationEu funds, in fact, the Calabrian universities have started working for the conservation and valorization of the great cultural heritage of the archaeological site, with the aim of creating the best solutions for the conservation of the site, taking into account the impact of climate change over time”.
