Quality of bathing water in Puglia with the awarding of new blue flags – PRESS REGIONE

Puglia confirms itself as a region with “excellent” waters, as per analyzes carried out by Arpa Puglia, and among the first in Italy in terms of number of coastal locations which have been awarded the 2024 Blue Flag recognition: the number of beaches and lidos increases, with three new entries which, according to the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), respect the criteria regarding sustainable land management.

In the aftermath of the Blue Flag award ceremony held in Rome, at the headquarters of the CNR – in the presence of the mayors and the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies -, the Councilor for the Environment of the Puglia Region underlines that “the work of constant control and monitoring of our waters, which we carry out through Arpa Puglia, has given us, right at the beginning of the bathing season, results that confirm the absence of insufficient water quality along the 940 km of Apulian coast , and bacteriological and chemical pollution. At a national level, therefore, Puglia rises in the ranking in terms of number of blue flag awards, with 24 locations awarded. This is – concludes the councilor – a result that recognizes the work carried out by the regional Department of the Environment, Arpa Puglia and Acquedotto Pugliese, operating on the water purification front, for the daily activity of verifying and protecting the quality of the water, to protect the environment and human health”.
