Museums open, online and united in a single major cultural initiative for the International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums, scheduled for Saturday 18 May 2024.

For the first time, the cultural institutions of the City of Reggio Calabria, involved in the museum and exhibition field, will come together in a synergistic and extraordinary opening. In fact, the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, the Diocesan Museum “Mons. Aurelio Sorrentino”, the “Pasquino Crupi” Palace of Culture of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria and the Foundation of the Piccolo Museo San Paolo, the Civic Art Gallery and the Aragonese Castle of the City of Reggio Calabria, the Alfonso Frangipane Art Museum come together in network to offer a series of activities and bring children, teenagers and adults closer to art, archeology and the world of museums through workshops, games and creative activities, as well as free guided tours.
“We count a lot on this pilot project – underlines the director of MArRC Fabrizio Sudano – because it gives citizens, visitors and tourists the opportunity to draw a first cultural map of the city. We hope that this collaboration can grow and open up to other lively and active realities in the area to promote the enjoyment of art and beauty in a synergistic way. The rich and diversified program of activities and workshops scheduled for Saturday 18 May is proof that a different strategy is possible if we work looking forward and planning together.”
“We thank all the partners of the initiative, who – adds Claudia Ventura, official responsible for the valorisation office – from a network perspective and under the aegis of ICOM, have contributed to creating a cultural offer dedicated to educational services, renewing the role and social commitment of museums”.
Tomorrow, Thursday 16 May at 10.00 at the MArRC, the press conference to present the initiative, with speeches by Fabrizio Sudano, director of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà, mayor of the Municipality and Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, Lucia Lojacono director of the diocesan museum “Mons.
