The May Day of Assisi comes to life with many events accompanying the celebration most loved by the people of Assisi. All with free entry, for citizens and tourists, which will liven up the city of Assisi until the beginning of May Day 2024.

E Vien Calendimaggio 2024 starts today, Sunday 21 April at 3.30 pm in Piazza Santa Chiara with the selection competition among the Crossbowmen of the Parties. The “Carlo Lampone” Award returns on Monday 22 April at 10 am in the Sala della Conciliazione, which this year reaches its 29th edition. The event, created to remember a son of the city of Assisi, in love and great organizer of the Festival, former president of the Calendimaggio Authority, is dedicated to local schools with the aim of transmitting the social and cultural values ​​of the Festival to the younger generations .

During the Lampone Prize, the big news for 2024 will also be revealed. In Assisi to discover medieval cuisine thanks to the “Calendimaggio Restaurants”: a new initiative that brings together culinary art, history, craftsmanship and hospitality. The opening of the Taverne di Assisi for the most awaited “Festival” of the year will coincide for the first time with the launch of a project which, thanks to a medieval recipe book, brings together history and cuisine, craftsmanship and hospitality. Ristoranti del Calendimaggio”, an initiative born from the agreement between Ente Calendimaggio, the local Confcommercio and Fipe: the participating restaurants are ready to offer an unprecedented gastronomic experience, but not only that.

Wednesday 24 April at 7.30 pm in the Sala delle Volte the ribbon cutting and opening of the Taverna dell’Ente Calendimaggio with the menu curated by Giorgio Barchiesi, aka Giorgione. Taverns also in the respective Parties again from 24 April, Nobilissima Parte de Sopra in via Santa Maria delle Rose right in front of the Cathedral of San Rufino, Magnifica Parte de Sotto in the premises of the historic headquarters in via Arnaldo Fortini.

The names of the jurors will be revealed – a director, a historian and a musicologist – who will decide the winning part of the May Calendimaggio 2024. It then continues on Tuesday April 30 at 4 pm, in the Piazzetta della Chiesa Nuova, with the presentation of the young candidates for the title of Madonna Primavera 2024 and the singing homage of the Singers of Assisi. During the event, the ten Madonnas will be announced – five per party – among which, on the Thursday of May Day, the Queen of the Festival will be elected. In case of bad weather the event will take place in the Conciliation Hall. In the evening, again on April 30th, propitiatory dinners in the Rioni delle Parti.

Wednesday 1st May double appointment of E vien Calendimaggio 2024 in Piazza Santa Chiara. At 2.30 pm the show of the Compagnia Balestrieri di Assisi while, at 5 pm, the performance of the Gruppo Bandieratori di Assisi. The long march leading up to the Festival will end with the open scenes in costume in the alleys of the two Parties. The Magnifica Parte de Sotto begins on Monday 6 May at 9.30 pm, followed by the Nobilissima Parte de Sopra on Tuesday 7 May again at 9.30 pm. The May Day of Assisi returns from 8 to 11 May with the usual program spread over four days.
