It may not be among the most punctual, but Fiumicino has ranked among the most pleasant airports in the world. The Airports Council International collected nearly 600,000 traveler surveys at more than 400 airports around the world and revealed passengers’ favorite stopovers across categories, ranging from entertainment to cleanliness to amenities offered. And “shining” among the beautiful places to spend time while waiting for your flight is also the capital’s international airport.

This new category of the ASQ Awards recognizes the top 5% of airports for their offering, including restaurants, shops and entertainment, and their efforts to make waiting times pleasant and comfortable. At the top of the European ranking is Fiumicino, followed by El Hierro di Valverde and Barcellona-El Prat, the Nikola Tesla in Belgrade, the Izmir Adnan Menderes and Tallinn airport. For Latin America, the airport of Guayaquil, in Ecuador, and the Lf Wade in Bermuda were classified. In Africa the Mohammed V of Casablanca and the Blaise Diagne of Dakar and in the Middle East the airport of Salalah, in Oman. For North America

the Fort McMurray in Canada and the Gerald R. Ford of Grand Rapids, United States stood out. For Asia and the Pacific, Incheon in the Republic of Korea and five Indonesian airports: Adi Soemarmo airport in Surakarta, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan in Balikpapan, Sultan Hasanuddin in Ujung Pandang, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II in Palembang and Yogyakarta.

Other Italian airports were also awarded among the best European airports, namely Ciampino, Linate and Malpensa. Also in the “dedicated staff” category to obtain a plaque “for the efforts made by the main stakeholders and the staff at the various checkpoints” is Turin Caselle airport.
