Juventus beat Lazio 2-0 in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. The Bianconeri, in crisis in the championship with only one victory in the last 9 days, raised their heads today with the success achieved by goals from Chiesa and Vlahovic. The team coached by Allegri is aiming to qualify for the final in view of the return semi-final scheduled for 23 April in Rome.

The match

The initial study phase was interrupted in the 11th minute by the penalty awarded by referee Massa to Juventus for a clear foul by Vecino on Cambiaso. However, the penalty was canceled by VAR: Cambiaso’s position at the start of the action is judged to be irregular, in which the ball touched by the Lazio player Patric is not considered a play capable of canceling the Juventus offside.

The challenge doesn’t take off, with Juve trying to rely on Chiesa’s accelerations and Lazio closing the spaces without too many worries. The monotony is broken in the 39th minute by Luis Alberto’s header: the soft arc ends up on the high side of the crossbar.

The script changes at the beginning of the second half thanks to Juve, who accelerates and breaks through. In the 50th minute Cambiaso comes out of his own midfield and punishes Lazio’s distracted defence. 30 meter hole for Chiesa who appears in front of Mandas and makes no mistake with his right foot: 1-0. The goal ‘uncorks’ Juve, who begins to play with greater fluency and to look for more articulated phrasing.

In the 64th minute the second goal came, with a splendid initiative by Vlahovic. The Serbian, triggered by McKennie, enters the area from the right and with a surgical left foot sends the ball into the bottom corner to the far post: 2-0. Lazio tries to raise the center of gravity in the final portion of the match and goes in search of the goal that would leave the challenge wide open in view of the return leg. The Biancocelesti don’t create anything, Perin doesn’t risk: 2-0 for Juve.
