With 4,461 votes in favour, 32 against and 6 abstentions, the members of Cassa di Trento, Lavis, Mezzocorona, Valle di Cembra and Alta Vallagarina, called yesterday evening in an extraordinary meeting at PalaTrento, said yes to the merger project by incorporation of Cassa Rurale Novella and Alta Anaunia.
The members of the Rurale group had a similar outcome last Friday.
From next January 1st the “Bank for Trentino Alto Adige – Bank für Trentino-Südtirol – Italian cooperative credit” will come to life, the first cooperative credit bank with a regional territorial connotation in terms of size of the Cassa Centrale Banca Group.
The new reality will range from Merano to Rovereto in an area that has a total of 97 municipalities, 500,000 inhabitants, over 30,000 businesses.
It will have 350 million euros in assets, 47 branches and a total staff of 396 people.
To the criticisms of recent months on the fact that the new bank will lose in name and is feared in fact, the rural and cooperative spirit, the president of Cassa di Trento and Cassa Centrale Banca, Giorgio Fracalossi reiterated that it is necessary to have broad shoulders to face the market and have better economies of scale and greater profitability and that in any case the territorial spirit and proximity to customers will not be lost.
