Almost a year after the discovery of the body of the seventy-year-old German woman Marielle Soethethe carabinieri of the investigative unit of the Provincial Command of Perugia and Città di Castello have arrestedon charges of voluntary homicide And sexual violencea Romanian man in his fifties long-time resident in Italy. The man, neighbor of the woman, is accused of the femicide that occurred at end of 2022.
The woman’s lifeless body was found by the Citerna Carabinieri on 1st December 2022 inside her home, alerted by a friend of Marielle Soethe who hadn’t been able to contact her for days. The woman was pours to the ground in the bedroom, with obvious traces of a brutal attack suffered, even in kind sexual. Thanks to the investigations and scientific and medical-legal reports it was possible to date the murder to a few days before, exactly on November 25th. Some elements (such as the absence of signs of forced entry and the anomalous closing of the shutters of the house) directed the investigators’ work towards subjects who had a relationship of knowledge with the victim.
Through documentary checks, examination of subjects close to the victim, also for economic relationships, the investigators have progressively narrowed the field plausible hypotheses. The circle thus closed around the figure of a neighbor of the woman considered a figure of “particular interest”, as explained in a note by the Perugia Prosecutor’s Office, led by Raffaele Cantone. The fifty-year-old Romanian had known the victim for some time: he collaborated with her (together with his wife, who was completely unrelated to the facts) in the activity of buying and selling of clothing that the victim conducted online. The confirmations came from biological traces found on the woman’s body, particularly in the areas affected by defensive injuries, revealed a correspondence with the arrested person. The man is now locked up in the Perugia Capanne prison.
