Tuesday 21 November 2023 – The merit award ceremony will take place on Saturday 28 October at 5pm, in the Basilicata regional headquarters of the Italian Red Cross, in Potenza “Time for Kindness”.
Approximately fifty Lucanian volunteers will receive the precious recognition from the CRI.
The purpose of the merit is to reward those who, in the midst of the health emergency linked to the Sars-Cov 2 pandemic, have distinguished themselves for the spirit of sacrifice and the support and collaboration provided.
Not only that, the recognition also gratifies the high civic and moral conscience, in full adherence to the principles of the Italian Red Cross, demonstrated by its volunteers.
“In 2020 the whole world stopped. Social distancing, loneliness. Yet, there are those who have faced all this – explain the presidents of the Italian Red Cross – – hour after hour, day after day, dedicating themselves to others, always with kindness: these are our healthcare workers and volunteers on the front line in the fight to Covid-19.
They held the hands of patients in ambulances, supported the sick in health facilities and knocked on the doors of those who were alone. They made sure that no one was left to their fears. And that’s all they continue to do, on a daily basis.”
