ABRUZZO-MOLISE. Great success of solidarity and participation in the 27th National Food Collection Day Saturday 18 November. A concrete gesture of sharing the need that has influenced thousands of people to give, with extreme generosity, their contribution both as a volunteer and in accepting the invitation to do the shopping for all those who find themselves, in a moment of their life , of great necessity. At a national level there is a +9% with 7,350 tons of long-life products, collected in 11,800 supermarkets and the involvement of ben 140,000 volunteers. In Abruzzo and Molise it is possible to go beyond the national figure, thanks to the participation of ben 444 points of sale and the involvement of 5,000 volunteers (4,000 in Abruzzo 1,000 in Molise). Collections 239 tons compared to 210 of 2022with a +14% (203 tons in Abruzzo +12% and 36 tons in Molise +24% compared to last year). Another extremely significant fact is that the Food Collection of this year can be defined as the “Children’s Collection”, with the involvement of more than one volunteer 1,200 students who accepted the invitation of Food Bank, of school managers and teachers, dedicating a Saturday, rather than to fun as an end in itself, to the work of inviting those in need to go shopping and to collecting the indicated products. “Every year we witness the great miracle of unity that the colorful world of volunteers and donors offers us – Declares the Manager of Food Collection in Abruzzo and Molise Mauro Morelli – 5,000 volunteers in Abruzzo and Molise, as always with a great job of meeting and colorful welcome. But the most beautiful stroke was given by the over 1,200 high school students who, thanks to principals and teachers who believed in it, made the educational value of the Collection even more evident. A growing and very hopeful figure.”
In detail, the data province by province: Pescara 63 tons in 105 sales points (57 in 2022); Chieti 48 tons in 103 sales points (41 in 2022); Teramo 54 tons in 109 sales points (49 in 2022); L’Aquila 38 tons in 52 sales points (34 in 2022); Campobasso 30 tons in 67 sales points (24 in 2022); Isernia 6 tons in 8 sales points (5 in 2022).
