An explosion of lights, music and emotions greeted the arrival of the new year in Ferrara. In front of over 30 thousand people, the city welcomed 2026 with the 26th edition of the Fire of the Estense Castle, one of the most spectacular and well-attended New Year’s events in Italy.
Fifteen minutes of pyromusical show, with around 2000 fireworks, transformed the Estense Castle into a luminous scenography with a magical impact, framing towers and walls with chromatic effects, silver waterfalls and plays of light synchronized on an epic and exciting soundtrack.
What made the finale of the show unforgettable was “Albachiara” by Vasco Rossi, which closed the Castle Fire and accompanied the entry into 2026. A highly symbolic choice, welcomed by a long and choral song from the audience, who wanted to pay homage to one of the greatest artists of Italian music and to the double concert-event that will open his new 2026 tour in Ferrara, on 5 and 6 June at the “Giorgio” Urban Park Bassani”.
An emotional and powerful finale, which ideally marked the opening of the new year in Ferrara under the sign of music and great events. The soundtrack of the Castle Fire accompanied the show in a narrative and emotional crescendo. The opening was entrusted to the intense atmosphere of My Tears Are Becoming a Sea by M83, which introduced the audience into an evocative and suspended dimension, continued with the evocative power of Orion by 2WEI and the rhythmic tensions of AXIS by Tom Player. The visual story continued on the wonderful notes of The Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd, to reach an epic dimension with Chevaliers de Sangreal by Hans Zimmer. The orchestral elegance of Life on Mars performed by the London Symphony Orchestra accompanied one of the most lyrical moments of the show, while Queen’s The Show Must Go On prepared the audience for the grand finale. Finally, the entry into 2026 was sealed by Vasco Rossi’s Albachiara, in the live version from Modena Park, which closed the pyromusical show in a long and participatory collective chorus.
The evening was animated from the first moment by Radio Bruno, the event’s radio partner, with music and entertainment in Piazza Castello. The performance of the band About That Night with the show 2000 at Tuono accompanied the audience until the countdown, followed by the great pyromusical show and the final party Radio Bruno Danceland – The Big Dance Party.
There was also great participation in the collateral events, from the New Year’s Grand Gala at the Ridotto of the Teatro Comunale to the evocative dinner “In the Heart of Entertainment” at the Imbarcaderi of the Estense Castle.
The event took place in total safety thanks to the coordinated work of the police, Prefecture, Police Headquarters and over 133 security operators. Even for hotels and accommodation facilities, New Year’s Eve is confirmed as an event of great tourist attraction and economic driving force for the entire territory.
