It is the largest auction of clothes and personal objects belonging to Lady Diana since her death in 1997. A collection of clothes, accessories and mementos will be on sale starting tomorrow, June 27 at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. Just weeks before her death, the princess auctioned off 79 of her dresses, raising millions for the charities she supported. Some of the items originally sold at Christie’s New York auction on June 25, 1997 are now offered at this week’s Julien’s event.
The auction also includes other items from the British royal family, such as a cotton nightgown that belonged to Queen Victoria and a cotton dress that was owned by Wallis Simpson, the American socialite whose marriage to King Edward VIII led to his abdication . Here are the dresses that will be on sale.
King Charles, the banquet for the emperor of Japan: Camilla and the 8 million tiara, the empress’s allergy, the menu and William (forced not to see England)
