Harry and Meghan lose yet another collaborator. It is the twelfth in five years

After the farewell of Meredith Mainescommunications manager (who lasted just ten months) Meghan Markle and the principe Harry they lose another member of their staff. And this time it’s not just any member. It is in fact about James Holt, key figure in the couple’s PR team, who after five years alongside the Sussexes officially said enough.

Holt, who after starting out as a press officer began to work actively with the Archewell Foundation (now Archewell Philanthropies) becoming its Executive Director, is the twelfth collaborator of the former actress and the prince to prefer other shores. A record which – the British press acutely points out – can only be equaled by Watford Football Club, which has fired just twelve coaches in the last five years.

“From my first project with Prince Harry eight years ago to improve mental health support for British Army soldiers, to our recent work helping injured children in Gaza, he constantly challenged me to think bigger and how we can make a difference», Holt said in a note shared with the magazine People“From the moment I met Meghan, I recognized her as a kindred spirit: someone who finds joy even in difficult times and connects authentically with people, no matter the circumstances.”

Holt said he was proud of the work the couple had done, especially the one to support families affected by bullying and cyberbullying, defined as “the most significant” of his professional life. Despite everything, it’s time for him to look beyond. «After five incredible years in Los Angeles, It’s time for my family to move back to London. As I pass the baton to the team that will lead Archewell Philanthropies in the coming months, I will do so with immense pride and optimism for what lies ahead,” he continued. «I will deeply miss my colleagues e.gI am grateful to Harry and Meghan for everything they have done, for me and for the countless people we have helped support.”

Words full of gratitude and pride for the journey made together, while the real reasons for the farewell remain private. According to a statement from a source close to the Sussexes who spoke to the Daily Mail, Holt will continue to work as «senior philanthropic advisor» for the couple and Archewell Philanthropies, supporting humanitarian travel they will take in 2026. Holt would “very protective” towards Harry and Meghan, which is why he doesn’t want to abandon them completely. In short, personal motivations would seem to prevail. Considering the precedents, however, doubts remain.
