Palermo is ready to celebrate 2026 with an evening full of entertainment and music that enlivens Piazza Ruggero Settimo: here is all the info for December 31st
Il New Year’spromoted by the administration led by the mayor Roberto Lagalla and organized by GoMad Concerti, starts at 9.00 pm with the hosting of Marco and Raf and the DJ set of Radio Kiss Kiss, historic national radio station and official radio partner of the event, which transforms the square into a large collective party. The maximum stable capacity is 16 thousand spectators, of which 9 thousand in Piazza Castelnuovo and 7 thousand in Piazza Ruggero Settimo.
At 10.30pm it’s time for the live show Arisanationally renowned singer-songwriter and artist, extraordinary voice, twice winner of the Sanremo Festival, who won over the public with unforgettable hits such as “Sincerità” and “La Notte”, who will give life to a performance characterized by a repertoire that ranges from the great Sanremo successes to the most recent hits.
At the stroke of midnight, the toasts official welcome to 2026 in the presence of the Mayor of Palermo, an institutional and symbolic moment that will unite the entire community in a collective wish for prosperity and serenity for the new year. Next, I take the stage The Kolorsone of the most loved and successful Italian pop-rock bands of recent years with hits worth millions of streams.

Born in the heart of Palermo’s nightlife in 2014, by a group of 40-year-old friends nostalgic for the most iconic music of all time, the Show Dance Anni ’90 is today a nationally renowned format, a Sicilian pride that makes all of Italy dance. The artistic team is made up of Fabio T. The Voice, Giampaolo Nuccio DJ, Alex Durante on percussion, the dance troupe of the Cubana Academy, the attractions of Giba & Mimì, the collaboration of Tony Jd and the artistic direction of Amato Martina.

As regards services, the square is set up with toilets positioned in different points of the area, the First Aid station active in the Piazza Castelnuovo area and emergency vehicles along the perimeter.

Traffic conditions and road closures: how to get to the concert
On the occasion of the 2026 New Year’s Eve concert, theTraffic and Ordinary Mobility Office of the Municipality of Palermo has issued an ordinance to limit the circulation of pedestrians and vehicles in Piazza Ruggero Settimo and in the streets and squares surrounding it, active from 7.00 on 31 December until 7.00 on 1 January. In the article we explain better which roads will be specifically involved.
It’s expected closure to vehicular transit in the streets and squares in force from 7.00 on 31 December 2025 to 7.00 on 1 January 2026: in via Villareale, in piazza Sant’Oliva (in the stretch from via Abela to via Principe di Villafranca), in via Principe di Paternostro (in the stretch from via Villafranca to piazza Castelnuovo), in piazza Castelnuovo (the stretch between via Libertà and via Dante, including the road behind the Music Box, on the extension of Via XX Settembre and the reserved taxi area).

From 7.00 on 31 December to 7.00 on 1 January, changes are planned to give vehicles the opportunity to circulate in the surrounding areas: in via Mazzini in the stretch from via Gaetano Daita to via Isidoro La Lumia the one-way traffic will be reversed; in via Garzilli at the intersection with via XII Gennaio there is an obligation to turn right onto via Principe di Villafranca.
While in via Principe di Villafranca there is a reversal of the current direction of travel from via Paolo Paternostro towards via Dante and in via Domenico Scinà the section downstream from piazza Sturzo with the obligation to turn right onto via Giuseppe Puglisi Bertolino.
In via Libertà from 7.00 on 31 December until no longer necessary, traffic will be suspended along the cycle paths in the sections Piazza Ruggero Settimo/Piazza Crispi/Piazza Mondini and Piazza Castelnuovo.
Special trains
Since the bans are widespread throughout the central area and it will be difficult to get around by car, you can always opt for the train. For this reason, on the night between 31 December 2025 and 1 January 2026, Regional Trenitalia together with the Sicilian Region planned two extraordinary trains on the Palermo – Palermo Airport and Palermo Centrale – Cefalù lines.
In detail: the R6491 which will depart from Palermo Centrale at 2.35 and arrive in Palermo Airport at 3.47. The scheduled stops are: Palermo Guadagna (2.40), Palermo Vespri (2.43), Palermo Palazzo Reale-Orleans (2.47), Palermo Lolli (2.51), Palermo Notarbartolo (2.54), Palermo De Gasperi (2.58), Palermo Francia (3.01), Palermo S. Lorenzo (3.04), Palermo La Malfa (3.07), Palermo Cardillo (3.10), Palermo Tommaso Natale (3.14), Palermo Sferracavallo (3.18), Isola delle Femmine (3.22), Capaci (3.25), Carini Torre Ciachea (3.30), Carini (3.34), Piraineto (3.41).
The other train is the R6490 departing from Palermo Centrale at 2.30am and arriving in Cefalù at 3.40am. The stops are: Palermo Brancaccio (2.36), Palermo Roccella (2.39), Ficarazzi (2.44), Bagheria (2.49), Santa Flavia (2.52), Casteldaccia (2.56), Altavilla-Milicia (2.59), San Nicola Tonnara (3.05), Trabia (3.09), Termini Imerese (3.15), Campofelice (3.26), Lascari (3.31).
«We designed this service for those who, on New Year’s Eve, will celebrate or work late, to guarantee a safe return home, a concrete alternative to road traffic in the most delicate hours – states the regional councilor for Infrastructure and mobility Alessandro Aricò .– The Schifani government does not stop and continues to work to offer services that are increasingly closer to the needs of citizens.”
Buses and trams for New Year’s Eve
As far as buses and trams are concerned, Amat is upgrading some services to allow you to reach Piazza Ruggero Settimo more comfortably for the concert. A change in the routes of the following lines has been announced on the official Amat website: 101 –102 – 103 – 104 – 106 – 108 – 134 – 812 –101 N – N1 – N2 – N3 – N5.
Prohibitions
This year too, a ban on barrels and firecrackers has been declared from 30 December until 2 January 2026 in Palermo, both in public and private places.
According to the ordinance, the following was established: «The absolute ban on using explosive material, fireworks, firecrackers, barrels, rockets and similar pyrotechnic devices, even if freely sold, and in general devices containing detonating and explosive mixtures and in any case so-called “free sale” or “declassified” fires. Violation entails administrative sanctions ranging from 500 to 5000 euros.
From 1pm on December 31st to 7am on January 1st it is prohibited to market alcoholic beverages. The sale of drinks marketed in glass and aluminum containers must be carried out only after they have been poured into biodegradable and compostable containers.
The ban must be extended to all public operators, both permanent and itinerant, who operate close to and in the surrounding areas. In detail:

Also at the sites mentioned above, the entry of suitcases and trolleys, spray cans of any kind, stadium trumpets, explosive material, smoke bombs, signal flares, stones, knives or other sharp or cutting objects and chains is prohibited.
And also spirits, glass bottles or aluminum cans, narcotic substances, poisons, harmful substances, flammable materials, selfie sticks and tripods, poles and umbrellas with tips, musical instruments, pens and laser pointers, drones and remote-controlled airplanes; – Bicycles, skateboards, skates, overboards and helmets, tents, sleeping bags and anti-aggression prayers.
